Blue Exorcist season 4 episode 1 kicks off this Fall 2024, continuing the adventures of the Okumura brothers. Following the intense action and mysteries of the previous season, the series looks deeper into the lives of the exorcists.
In Blue Exorcist Beyond the Snow Saga, the focus shifts to Shura Kirigakure, an Upper-First class Exorcist and Rin Okumura’s mentor. Rin and Yukio Okumura go on a dangerous journey to Aomori, determined to rescue Shura from a family curse threatening her life.
The fourth season of Blue Exorcist is divided into two cours: the Beyond the Snow Saga, which centers on Shura Kirigakure, and the Blue Night Saga, which explores the mysterious circumstances surrounding the birth of Rin and Yukio.
What is Blue Exorcist?
Blue Exorcist is a Japanese manga series written by Kazue Kato. It follows the story of Rin Okumura, a seemingly ordinary high school student who discovers he is the son of Satan, the King of Gehenna (Hell).
After his foster father, a powerful exorcist, is killed by demons, Rin decides to enroll in True Cross Academy, a prestigious school for exorcists, to train and fight against demonic forces.
The manga began serialization in Jump Square in 2009 and has since been adapted into an anime series, an original video animation (OVA), and a live-action film. The anime adaptation, produced by A-1 Pictures, premiered in 2011.
The anime adaptation has four seasons as of writing.
Season 1 kicked off the adventure in 2011, adapting the first 11 volumes of the popular manga.
Season 2, titled Blue Exorcist Kyoto Saga, was released in 2017 and continued the story with a focus on Rin and Yukio’s training at True Cross Academy in Kyoto.
Season 3, Blue Exorcist Shimane Illuminati Saga, premiered in January 2024 and introduced a new threat to the world of exorcism.
Season 4, Blue Exorcist Beyond the Snow Saga, airs in October 2024.

Blue Exorcist season 3, Shimane Illuminati Saga, follows Rin and his classmates as they investigate mysterious events in Shimane prefecture. A powerful entity, the King of Light, seeks to revive Satan and declares war on the True Cross Order.
The story begins when Rin’s classmate, Sei Godaiin, starts seeing demons. Rin and his friends uncover a conspiracy involving the Illuminati, a secret organization planning to abduct Izumo to serve as a vessel for a powerful fox demon. The Illuminati’s leader, Lucifer (King of Light), is revealed to be the mastermind.
The season culminates in a battle at the Illuminati’s underground facility. Rin defeats a zombie, but chaos ensues when Michael Gedoin unleashes another zombie attack. Izumo, possessed by Nine Tails, struggles to maintain control.
With help from her mother, Tamamo, Izumo and the team thwart the Illuminati’s plans. The season concludes with a spa party arranged by Mephisto as a reward for their hard work.
