What is Castlevania Nocturne?
Castlevania Nocturne is a Netflix original anime series produced by Powerhouse Animation Studios. It is a spin-off from the popular Castlevania series, based on Konami’s classic video game franchise.
The show is set during the late 18th century, specifically around the French Revolution. It follows the descendants of the Belmont family, famed vampire hunters, fighting to prevent dark forces from plunging the world into chaos.
Castlevania Nocturne season 1 recap
The show’s first season followed Richter Belmont, a young vampire hunter, and his adoptive sister, Maria Renard.
Together, they embarked on a mission to stop the apocalyptic rise of a godlike Vampire Messiah. Along the way, they formed new alliances to strengthen their fight against the looming darkness.
As the season progressed, Richter and his group faced numerous challenges and met a powerful vampire coven led by Erzsebet Bathory.
Bathory aimed to create a world ruled by vampires, with her at the center as the Vampire Messiah. In a tragic turn of events, Erzsebet turned Tera, a former Speaker and Maria’s mother, into a vampire. This left Richter’s group devastated and outmatched as they battled Erzsebet’s forces during a solar eclipse.
As Drolta Tzuentes, one of Erzsebet’s fiercest vampires, hunted down Richter and his allies, all hope seemed lost.
Just when Drolta was on the verge of killing Richter, Alucard, the half-vampire son of Dracula, dramatically returned, killing Drolta and saving Richter’s party from certain death.
