Chainsaw Man chapter 176 recap
Before an encounter with a gnarly devil nearly ended her life, high schooler Asa Mitaka became possessed by the War Devil, making her a hybrid similar to Denji. When Yoru takes over her body, they’re able to create weapons out of anything they touch. The more valuable the object, the more devastating the weapon.
Eventually, War Devil’s goal becomes clear: to defeat Chainsaw Man once and for all and make him “vomit Nuclear Weapons back up.”
Chapter 176 starts with a flashback conversation between Yoru and Asa. The War Devil reveals that it has not one but two weapons of its own to rival Chainsaw Man, more dangerous than anything it’s ever made. That said, using them would destroy Yoru’s chances of saving her friends.
With a chainsaw sailing towards her neck, Yoru changes her mind and summons both of her children: the Tank devil and the Gun devil.
We’re shown a Devil Containment Facility in the Gulf of Mexico where something escapes a giant vault. Something large also bursts out of the side of Mount Elbrus in the Soviet Union.
Both devils instantly fuse into Yoru’s body and replace her severed arms. Yoru fires a shot straight through Denji’s stomach, taking two of his arms off and releasing the mouth devil.
