Chainsaw Man chapter 178 recap
“Chapter 178: Gun Goddess” opens with a giant rifle-wielding devil emerging from the Statue of Liberty. This appears to be an aspect of the Gun Devil’s power that was summoned when Yoru sacrificed 400,000 trigger fingers in the U.S.
On Yoru’s command, the gun goddess shoots halfway across the globe, destroying three city blocks in Japan and decimating Black Chainsaw Man in a single shot.
Asa Mitaka resumes control of her body and is shocked by the sheer destruction caused by her counterpart, who laughs maniacally in her mind.
We then see Black Chainsaw Man lying in the rubble. The shot reduces him to a smouldering torso, but then we see something feed blood into his mouth: the lanky Aging Devil that made a vile deal with Japan’s top brass.
The devil reveals more about his contract, which states that more kids die for every part of it that Chainsaw Man eats.
The chapter ends with a mirror showing a grim image of a soldier standing behind a line of youngsters.
