Chainsaw Man chapter 179 recap
After getting shot by a giant bullet, the Black Chainsaw Man (BCM) is left on the verge of death.
What’s left of him lies in the middle of a levelled city block, unable to move. The Aging Devil then appears and helps him recover with some of its blood.
In the last chapter, it was revealed that Public Safety and the Aging Devil were able to strike a deal after all mouths came back into existence.
The Aging Devil agreed to be consumed by Chainsaw Man (eliminating death by aging) in exchange for the death of hundreds of thousands of children.
The sadistic devil urges the Black Chainsaw Man to start eating his body. But BCM crawls past Aging Devil and picks up the same broken blood drive sign and continues shouting for any other nearby donors. “Vam.. Vagah..”
This confirms that – despite his rage – Denji/Pochita’s humanity (and intelligence) still lives within the Black Chainsaw Man.
The Aging Devil notes BCM’s lack of a brain and goes for his head. Just then, Yoru spots it trying to steal her kill. She reveals to Asa that she aims to turn Chainsaw Man into a weapon to separate Denji from its devil counterpart “like Famine said”, and they struggle for control over Asa’s body.
Yoru gets another shot off on the Aging Devil, who seemingly stops time to disintegrate a giant severed finger projectile mid-air.
Interestingly, the Aging Devil says that neither of them are “mature enough to talk to me”. Ageing and time itself existed long before war, guns, or chainsaws. Was this merely a pun, or does it imply that the Aging Devil is way out of their league?
