Dandadan episode 5 is set to send anime fans deeper into the thrilling world of cursed spirits and psychic battles.
After narrowly escaping Turbo Granny’s haunted domain in the previous episode, Momo and Okarun’s journey is far from over.

The stakes continue to rise as their mysterious powers are pushed to the limit, and dangerous aliens and spirits lurk at every turn.
Will their bond be enough to face the impending chaos, or will the next wave of supernatural dangers prove too much for the young spirit mediums to handle?
Dandadan episode 4 recap

The episode began with Momo and Okarun reaching the haunted tunnel, Turbo Granny’s domain. As they ventured deeper inside, they encountered a giant head blocking their path. They found the same giant head blocking the opposite end when they attempted to turn back.
With no way out, Momo instructed Okarun to activate his curse to create an escape route. However, Turbo Granny revealed that she had lifted the curse on Okarun, stripping him of his powers.

On the brink of danger, Momo recalled her grandmother’s teachings and taunted Turbo Granny into a race. She challenged the spirit to a game of tag, giving herself and Okarun a 10-minute head start. If Turbo Granny caught them, they would lose.
Confident in her ability, Turbo Granny accepted. Since Momo hadn’t specified how to count the minutes, Turbo Granny counted in seconds and quickly caught up with them.

Trapped in the tunnel, Momo was cornered as Turbo Granny started counting again to catch Okarun. In a desperate move, Okarun attacked, forcing Turbo Granny to once again possess his body. With the curse reactivated, Momo could tap into her psychic abilities and temporarily subdue the evil spirit.
Enraged, Turbo Granny unleashed her full power, summoning a massive cursed crab to pursue Momo and Okarun. To escape, Momo instructed Okarun to transform and run them out of Shono City, where Turbo Granny’s influence held sway.

As Okarun’s stamina waned, Momo devised a plan to weaken the giant crab by leading it to a hot spring. She explained that boiling a crab causes its muscle fibers to stiffen, slowing it down. However, just as they neared the city’s edge, a horde of undead corpses blocked their way.
Turbo Granny revealed that a cemetery sat on the outskirts of Shono City, and she had raised an army of the dead from it. Exhausted, Momo and Okarun were surrounded. In a final effort, Momo urged Okarun to activate his curse once more, combining their powers to break through the undead and make a dash for the exit.

As they neared the boundary of Shono City, Turbo Granny, now enraged, caught up with them. But at the last moment, Momo used her psychic powers to pull herself and Okarun onto the Takashi Line train.
Momo continued to provoke Turbo Granny, luring the spirit into Kamigoe City. Momo’s grandmother, Seiko Ayase, had prepared several anti-curse traps there. As soon as Turbo Granny crossed into Kamigoe, she burst into flames and perished.

Seiko then explained that Turbo Granny was born from the curses of high school girls who had suffered terrible fates in Shono City.
These girls didn’t become evil spirits willingly—Turbo Granny appeared in places where their souls met untimely, irrational deaths. Seiko believed Turbo Granny was consoling these restless spirits in her own twisted way.
The episode ended with the trio enjoying a crab dinner. Okarun also revealed that Turbo Granny’s curse no longer affected him.
