Spanning 205 chapters, the series starts with Tanjiro’s world shattered when his family fell victim to tragedy, and his sister was transformed into a demon.
Here is a detailed explainer of the events that followed the final arc of the Demon Slayer manga ending. The final two chapters offer closure and answers, unraveling the fates of these characters in the aftermath of the last arc.
Warning: Major spoilers for fans who have not read the manga and those who have yet to watch the anime.
What happened to all the characters after the Final Battle arc in the Demon Slayer manga ending
Chapter 204 sees Tanjiro, Nezuko, Inosuke, and Zenitsu fully recover and return to their peaceful life at the Kamado family house in the mountains after they defeat the Demon King Muzan Kibutsuji.
Chapter 205 takes us to the future three generations later, where we meet the great-grandchildren of our beloved characters.
First, we are introduced to Sumihiko Kamado, a 15-year-old student excitedly preparing for school.
Then our attention shifts to Yoshiteru Agatsuma, a 17-year-old student resembling Zenitsu. He reads Zenitsu’s memoirs about the Demon Slayer Corps’ triumph over Muzan.
On their way to school, Yoshiteru shares his belief in reincarnation with his older sister, Touko, who bears a striking resemblance to Nezuko.
He believes that all those who fell in the battle against the Demon King have been reborn and are now living joyfully.
However, Touko seems distracted, engrossed in her phone. She harbors a crush on Tenma Uzui, a 20-year-old athlete who recently secured a gold medal for Japan in Gymnastics. Tenma shares the same bold personality and features as Tengen, the Sound Hashira.
The Agatsuma siblings stumble upon news about Aoba Hashibira, a strikingly attractive individual reminiscent of Inosuke.
Aoba, a botanist, has discovered the elusive Blue Spider Lily, the very plant that Muzan sought to attain immortality.
Aoba’s research reveals that the flower blooms only a few days each year during the daytime, which explains why Muzan and his demons never found it.
Their surroundings are also populated by individuals bearing a resemblance to the Hashira. At their school, a preschool teacher looks remarkably similar to Gyomei Himejima, the Stone Pillar.
The Agatsuma siblings’ favorite restaurant is owned by a couple who share the features of Mitsuri Kanroji, the Love Pillar, and Obanai Iguro, the Serpent Hashira.
The restaurant has snake-themed decorations, and the portions served are generous, a nod to Obanai’s fondness for snakes and Mitsuri’s love for food.
In a heartening turn of events, a member of the Ubuyashiki family is showcased on television as the oldest person in Japan, a welcome change for the clan now that their family curse has been lifted.
We catch a glimpse of characters resembling Jigoro Kuwajima, the former Thunder Hashira, and Sakonji Urokodaki, the former Water Hashira, engaging in a friendly game of Shogi, a Japanese board game.
Additionally, two policemen patrol the streets, bearing an uncanny resemblance to the Shinazugawa brothers.
The final chapter also sheds light on the fate of the lone surviving demon, Yushiro. After aiding the Demon Slayers in vanquishing Muzan, Yushiro adopts the last name Yamamoto and becomes a renowned artist, dedicating his talent to painting portraits and illustrations of his former patron, Tamayo.
Sumihiko shares a close bond with his friend Toujurou, who bears a striking resemblance to Kyojiro Rengoku, the Flame Pillar. The two boys excitedly discuss joining the Kendo team as they hurry to school.
In the closing panel, Sumihiko’s mother engages in conversation with the school administration, and a picture on her wall depicts all the survivors from the Final Battle arc, alongside the hanafuda earrings, which are now a treasured Kamado family heirloom.
