But what makes this movie stand out is an exclusive addition that manga fans have not seen before — a new scene that debuted in the film.
This scene showcases the skills of the Wind Hashira Sanemi Shinazugawa and the Serpent Hashira Obanai Iguro, demonstrating their powerful Breathing Techniques.
A closer look at the Demon Slayer To the Hashira Training movie’s special scene

Having watched the previous “To the Swordsmith Village” movie, which essentially served as an early screening of season 3’s hour-long special premiere, I found that it lacked action.
While To the Swordsmith Village movie did include an epic action scene from season 2’s finale, it was a moment we fans had already witnessed. The remainder of the movie, essentially season 3’s first episode, introduced the arc’s characters and new location.

In comparison, the third Demon Slayer movie remedied this by adding a scene not found in the manga. This scene, set between the season 3 finale and the season 4 opener, showcased Shinazugawa and Iguro teaming up for a rescue and assassination mission.
They needed to hunt down a demon responsible for kidnapping civilians near a village. Their investigation led them to an abandoned castle serving as a demon stronghold. Disgusted by the demons’ indulgence, the two Hashira raided the castle, swiftly defeating the ambushing demons.
One demon attempted to flee by jumping off the castle ledge, revealing a glimpse of the Infinity Castle as it escaped. It vanished before they could reach the Infinity Castle, leaving Shinazugawa and Iguro baffled.
After the special scene, the movie continued with the opening events of the To the Hashira Training arc, which adapts chapters 128 to 131 of the manga.

This wasn’t the first time the Japanese animation studio ufotable introduced events not found in the manga. At the start of season 2, they showed how the Flame Hashira, Kyojuro Rengoku, made his way to the Mugen Train.
Rengoku was sent on a mission to investigate a series of disappearances on the Mugen Train. As he gets to the station, he confronts an overconfident demon responsible for numerous attacks in a town.
In chapter 54 of the manga, we are only shown Tanjiro Kamado’s perspective, where he and his companions meet with Rengoku inside the train.
You can catch the one-hour special of Demon Slayer Season 4 when it airs in spring 2024.
