Are you new to Displate? Have you added cool design to your cart but still on the fence on checking out? In this Displate review, I’ll detail my ordering experience and address considerations you may be having.

Displate produces metal posters that you can customize based on size and finishing that you can easily put up on your wall with at most two stickers. They are an alternate to conventional paper posters that require framing and mounting.

They offer a large variety of collections that appeal to a wide interest: anime, gaming, space, sports, cars, animals, TV shows, movies, inspirational, pop art, abstract art, and more.

Before I dive deeper in the Displate review, let met give you some context — I collect official art and fan art for games and anime titles that I enjoy. They come in many forms and sizes, from cloth scrolls to A4 or A3 posters, and even postcard size.

I also have odd-sized exclusive anime art that I cut out from magazines and custom frame them. In short, I’m no stranger to putting up art on the wall and have tried all sorts of methods.

Displate review: Are they worth your money? For me, it’s also time

First thing that comes to mind as a collector are availability of art prints. If you’re not into any specific topic, Displate does offer a diverse selection of prints in general categories.

Of course, if you’re an anime and gaming fan, you’ll want to search for the specific title. Kaiju no 8 and Arcane were some of the biggest animated series in 2024. Despite being new titles, there are already many designs to choose from, featuring official key visuals, group shots, and individual main characters.

Other recent anime with Displate collections include Jujutsu Kaisen, Chainsaw Man, and One Piece Live Action. Classic titles like Naruto, Mobile Suit Gundam, Yi-Gi-Oh have even larger collections, which surprised me. I have so many favorites in the official licensed Naruto collection, it’s tough to pick my top three. I want them all!

I recently got one from Displate’s Chainsaw Man collection that shows Aki smoking—my favorite—and Denji yawning which is so quirky! Fan art tend to be more stylized with artists using dramatic poses. These official licensed posters offer thoughtful compositions that capture the essence of the series.

Color wise, the metal poster looks exactly like the rich colors you see presented online. The product’s finishings are of high quality, everything is perfectly cut, and the surface is smooth to touch.

The biggest plus for me is how easy it is to hang it up. I already have an Aki poster on my wall, but it definitely was a process. I had to carefully cut out the page from an imported Japanese magazine, email a framing service to check prices, bring it down to the shop, choose what type of frame I wanted, wait a few weeks for it to get done, go back to the shop to pick it up, then buy and install a new 3M picture hanging hook before I finally put it up on the wall—only to realize that it’s now available on Displate.

But that’s not all. Then comes the maintenance of photo frames where you’ll need to consistently keep them clean or risk dust accumulation around the frames. It’s even worse if dust manages to find its way inside. Displate metal posters completely eliminate the hassle. At most, all you need to do is give your metal poster a wipe every few weeks.

Putting a Displate poster up on the wall takes less than a minute. In the box, you’ll receive a sticky leaf, a sticky magnet, and your poster. All you need to do is stick the leaf on the wall then stick the magnet to it in the designated area, applying pressure throughout. Once done, the poster magnetically attaches to it, hanging securely on the wall.

If you have hanging art in a room which receives lots of sunlight, there’s usually visual annoyance due to reflection from the frame glass or acrylic, which makes me appreciate the solid and non-reflective nature of Displates.

Considering these points above, I do feel the price point of each Displate is well worth the time and effort saved. Of course, not every single key visual or special art from anime and game titles will be on offer, but they’re enough to make you want to buy multiple and put them up together on the wall or above your fan shrine.

Some of the best discounts are during Black Friday in November, so be sure to look out for that if you’re hoping to save on bulk.
