Dr Stone creator, Park “Boichi” Mu-jik, renowned for the popular manga and anime series, is bringing another of his works onto the big screen.
Origin, a manga that has been flying under the radar, is now slated for a Hollywood live-action adaptation.

The news comes as Kodansha, a leading Japanese publishing house, has inked a deal with the production company Majestic Limited for the feature film adaptation of Origin.
Dr Stone creator Bochi will have his Origin manga adapted into a Hollywood movie
Bochi, a renowned Korean manga artist who is based in Japan, authored and illustrated Origin, a seinen manga set in 2048.
The story unfolds in a world where significant strides in robotics and artificial intelligence threaten humanity.
The protagonist, a prototype named Origin, emerges as the world’s best hope for survival.

Origin earned recognition by winning the grand prize in the manga division at the 22nd Japan Media Arts Festival in 2019.
While the manga has been available abroad, the English translation only recently reached U.S. shelves in late November.
Majestic Limited, founded by Josh Boone, Danny Chan, and Darius Shahmir, expressed their enthusiasm for the collaboration. Shahmir told Variety, “We are extremely proud to be working with Kodansha and Boichi on ‘Origin.’ This project will bring a new form of sci-fi storytelling to global audiences.”
Kodansha’s Takami Yohei, head of the rights and media business unit, shared similar sentiments, saying, “We are excited to bring ‘Origin,’ an amazing sci-fi story created by Boichi-sensei, to global audiences.” This collaboration aims to expand the reach of manga and entertainment across different mediums.
