An upcoming Dragon Ball animated series, titled Dragon Ball Daima, has been announced at the New York City Comic Con (NYCC) in celebration of the franchise’s 40th anniversary.
Dragon Ball Daima will see a number of classic Dragon Ball Z characters like Goku, Vegeta, and Bulma transformed into children, similar to the way Goku became a child in Dragon Ball GT.
Dragon Ball creator, Akira Toriyama, is said to be heavily involved with the production of Daima, overseeing the original work, story, and character designs, so we won’t have to deal with some non-canon stuff – I’m looking at you, Dragon Ball GT.
With regards to its timeline, Daima takes place between the events of Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Super. It fills the events that happened after the Z Fighters defeated Majin Buu and before the arrival of Beerus.
Dragon Ball Daima cast
The only confirmed cast member for Daima is the legendary Masako Nozawa, the original voice actor (seiyuu) for Son Goku.
Nozawa has been the voice behind Goku since the very beginning, and her talent extends to many other beloved characters in the Dragon Ball universe, including Gohan, Goten, Bardock, Gogeta, Gotenks, and Goku Black.
Beyond Dragon Ball, she has also voiced iconic anime characters like Doraemon and Kureha from One Piece.
Dragon Ball Daima trailer
A teaser trailer was also dropped at NYCC, showing the series’ progression since the manga started in 1984.
The trailer showcased scenes of Goku and Vegeta transforming into younger versions of themselves as well as some of the cast in their chibi form.
Not much was told in terms of its plot, but the animation featured in the trailer is superb.
Dragon Ball Daima release date
Daima’s release date is officially set for October 11, 2024.
