The world of DC comics just got a little more cursed.
A Jujutsu Kaisen cameo has sent fans into a frenzy after Yuji Itadori was spotted in a background scene of DC Comics’ milestone Nightwing 113 — the 300th issue in the ongoing series.
This unexpected Easter egg has Jujutsu Kaisen fans buzzing with the question, what brings Yuji to Gotham City?
Jujutsu Kaisen cameo in the DC Nightwing comic explained
Fans with a keen eye for cursed energy spotted a familiar face in the background.
The character, sporting spiky pink hair, bears a striking resemblance to Jujutsu Kaisen’s protagonist.
Shortly after the cameo started trending on social media, artist Daniele Di Nicuolo confirmed the character was indeed Yuji, who was roaming around Gotham City.
While eagle-eyed fans were ecstatic to spot Yuji carrying a pizza box, it’s important to note this is an unofficial cameo.
Jujutsu Kaisen creator Gege Akutami and the series’ publisher, Shueisha, haven’t acknowledged the Easter Egg, suggesting it was a playful nod by the artist.
This type of unexpected appearance is common in Western comics. Occasionally, famous characters from one publisher, like Marvel, might make a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it cameo in a DC panel.
These appearances are more of a tribute or a sign of appreciation by the artist for another series they admire rather than a sanctioned crossover event.
For those unfamiliar, Nightwing follows the adventures of Dick Grayson, a former Robin who has stepped out of Batman’s shadow to become a hero in his own right.
Nightwing patrols the crime-ridden streets of Bludhaven, utilizing his acrobatic skills, detective training, and an arsenal of gadgets to combat criminals and protect the city.
Jujutsu Kaisen dives into the world of jujutsu sorcerers who combat monstrous curses that plague humanity. Yuji, the series’ protagonist, accidentally ingests a powerful cursed object and becomes the vessel for the terrifying king of curses, Ryomen Sukuna.
