Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 270 delves further into the series’ epilogue, giving readers a closer look at the aftermath of the intense battle against the King of Curses, Ryomen Sukuna.
Reflecting on their losses and the limitations of their strategies, the sorcerers are at a crossroads.
Atsuya Kusakabe looks to take on a new role, while Mei Mei seeks to shift the balance of power in the Jujutsu world.
However, with only a few chapters left in the series, and now that Gege Akutami has announced Jujutsu Kaisen will end on September 30, 2024, one question remains: how will this epic story come to a close?
Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 269 recap
The chapter began with Maki Zenin confronting Yuta Okkotsu and revealing that he was still alive. All the surviving Jujutsu sorcerers who had fought Ryomen Sukuna during the Shinjuku Showdown arc gathered to discuss and assess the ordeal they had just endured.
Atsuya Kusakabe, one of the last remaining members of the Tokyo Jujutsu High faculty, revealed to Yuji that he had supported the school’s decision to execute him after he became Sukuna’s vessel. Atsuya blamed Satoru Gojo for the entire ordeal with Sukuna and insisted that Yuji, Megumi Fushiguro, and Nobara Kugisaki should not feel guilty.
Yuta then explained how he had returned to his body after briefly taking over Gojo’s during their battle against Sukuna. Since Rika hadn’t followed Yuta to Gojo’s body, she had used her reverse curse technique to repair and sustain Yuta’s original body, with help from Shoko Ieiri.
Maki criticized their plan against Sukuna, saying that she should have been the one to take down Kenjaku and that Hiromi Higurama should have used Toge Inumaki’s recorded cursed speech during his fight with Sukuna. However, Aoi Todo countered, explaining that he couldn’t use his Boogie Woogie technique on Maki because she had no cursed energy. He also mentioned that Toge’s recorded cursed speech could only be used once.
Hiromi joined the discussion and explained that they had only stood a chance because Sukuna hadn’t been taking them seriously. Hiromi believed that if Sukuna had truly felt threatened, he would have died instantly.
The group initially blamed Suguru Geto’s associates, Miguel and Larue, for not assisting them at the start of the fight against Sukuna. However, they soon realized they could have made better choices, which might have led to a more favorable outcome.
Mei Mei and Atsuya then discussed how the great families in the Jujutsu world had maintained a monopoly on powerful techniques like the New Shadow Style and imposed unreasonable Binding Vows to control their disciples and preserve their dominant status.
Atsuya revealed that he had become the new head of the New Shadow Style and planned to remove the Binding Vow requirement for future users.
The chapter ended with Mei Mei discovering the head of the Simple Domain technique, who had been planning to use it to train disciples and rival the powerful families in the Jujutsu world.
Mei Mei remarked that if not for the greed of these families in monopolizing such a valuable technique, many more sorcerers would have survived. The chapter closed with Mei Mei killing the person who controlled the Simple Domain technique.
