Kaiju no 8 chapter 118 uncovers more of the mysterious origins of the Defense Force and the enigmatic entity tied to Kafka Hibino’s Kaiju powers.
In the previous chapter, Kafka was drawn into a brutal, ancient battlefield, where he witnessed warriors of a bygone era clashing with monstrous Kaiju, using weapons crafted from the very beasts they fought.
The echoes of this battle and the powerful creature lurking in Kafka’s past begin unveiling the forces that shaped his present.
With each revelation, Kafka inches closer to discovering the truth behind his powers—and the secrets that may still lie hidden in the shadows.
Kaiju no 8 chapter 117 recap
Chapter 117 opened with Kafka Hibino being drawn back in time to a brutal battlefield filled with samurai warriors charging at a monstrous, T-Rex-like Kaiju.
As the intense clash unfolded, Kafka gradually observed that the warriors’ armor and weapons were crafted from monster parts, indicating a primitive yet resourceful approach to combat.
Kafka recalled learning about this ancient technique, where warriors enhanced their bodies by fusing with these monster-based tools through the aid of a parasitic creature. This process granted them formidable strength, posed significant physical risks, and demanded immense stamina.
Amidst the chaos, Kafka encountered a warrior resembling vice commander Hoshina, which led him to suspect this fighter was likely an ancestor of his superior.
Kafka soon recognized that this ancient army was similar to the modern Defense Force, with various units coordinating to subdue the Kaiju.
The entity responsible for summoning Kafka to this past scene then revealed that, in their time, they had suffered devastating losses despite their relentless and fearless attacks.
Even with their best efforts, they failed to defeat a Kaiju that had evolved into a creature nearly identical to the creature that had overpowered Kafka in the present.
The mysterious being elaborated, explaining that despite their overwhelming numbers and the leadership of legendary swordsmen, the ancient army ultimately met a catastrophic defeat, with the entire force annihilated.
Following the massacre, the powerful Kaiju went on to destroy the soldiers’ homeland, leaving no survivors or structures in its wake.
In the aftermath, the warriors’ accumulated anger and despair merged into a new entity—a creature seemingly destined to become the Kaiju that later fused with Kafka’s body.
