Kaiju no 8 sequel confirmed
Season 1 aired from April 13, 2024, to June 29, 2024, spanning 12 episodes. The anime established the world of Kaiju No. 8, where monstrous creatures known as Kaiju constantly threatened humanity.
The JAKDF serves as the sole line of defense, a specialized military group dedicated to neutralizing and eliminating these threats.
The story centered on Kafka Hibino, a man past his prime with aspirations to join the Defense Force. Despite repeated failures in the entrance exam, fate intervened when a mysterious Kaiju infected him, granting him incredible Kaiju powers.
Now wielding this newfound strength, Kafka joined the Defense Force to fight with the organization he once dreamt of being a part of.
Season 1 primarily focused on the Third Division, led by Captain Mina Ashiro, Kafka’s childhood friend, vice-captain Soshiro Hoshina, and the group of recruits Hibino was a part of.
Kaiju No. 8’s sequel teaser trailer hinted at a shift in focus, moving the spotlight to the First Division.
What is the First Division in Kaiju no 8?
The First Division is recognized as the strongest team within the Defense Force, renowned for its remarkable strength. Even the officers in this division have the skills to defeat massive Kaiju.
Some Defense Force officers estimate that members of the First Division have a combat force of at least 40 percent, making them more powerful than Platoon Leaders. Additionally, each Platoon Leader in the First Division has the potential to advance to the rank of captain.
The First Division is commanded by Gen Narumi, Japan’s most formidable anti-kaiju combatant.
