Announced at the tail end of Anime Expo 2024 by Crunchyroll and Aniplex on July 6, 2024, the critically acclaimed manhwa series is set to take the anime world by storm.
Omniscient Reader promises to bring the fantastical world, brimming with action, intrigue, and a unique twist on storytelling, to life in stunning animation.
Omniscient Reader anime adaptation announced
The upcoming anime adaptation is based on the webtoon version of “Omniscient Reader’s Viewpoint,” originally written by Sing Shong and brought to life by artist Sleepy-C (Redice Studio).
The manhwa ran from 2018 to 2020 and was published through Munpia. It is available through Ize Press for English readers.
Omniscient Reader isn’t just another webtoon; it’s a critically acclaimed work. In 2021, the source web novel won the prestigious Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Award in the Manhwa Category of the Korea Content Awards.
This recognition speaks volumes about the story’s captivating narrative and impact on the Korean web novel scene, where it garnered a massive following with over 26 million views on Munpia by September 2019.
For those unfamiliar with the story, Dokja, an ordinary office worker, finds solace in his favorite web novel, “Three Ways to Survive the Apocalypse.”
However, his world is flipped upside down when the fictional apocalypse becomes terrifyingly real.
With a twist of fate, Dokja is the only one who knows the story’s plot and ending.
Armed with this foreknowledge, he embarks on a thrilling journey to rewrite the narrative and potentially alter the world’s fate.
