One Piece creator and TV series executive producer Eiichiro Oda is gearing up for One Piece live action season 2.
The renowned mangaka went on a journey to Cape Town, South Africa, to personally oversee the production of the series by Netflix and Tomorrow Studios.
Photos shared on social media capture Eiichiro exploring the expansive sets and collaborating closely with showrunner Matt Owens.
Eiichiro’s visit provided fans with a sneak peek into what to expect from One Piece live action season 2. The sets hint at storylines involving the Baroque Works organization and the Drum Island Arc, where the crew meets the reindeer doctor Tony Tony Chopper for the first time.
Eiichiro Oda hypes fans for One Piece live action season 2, believes his casting selections were “perfect”
Eiichiro had the opportunity to meet and interact with the cast, including Lera Abova, who plays Miss All Sunday, and Charithra Chandran, who plays Miss Wednesday.
“My own casting selections were made from Japan over photos and videos, but seeing them all in person convinced me (that) they were absolutely the perfect choice,” he said in a statement.
He was heavily involved in the casting process, especially for the actors comprising Straw Hat Pirates.
As production for season 2 continues, he has assured fans that the upcoming season will exceed the expectations set by the first.
Eiichiro Oda’s visit to Cape Town marks his second international trip related to the live action series. Previously, he attended the premiere of One Piece live action season 1 in Los Angeles, California, where he stealthily joined fans for a special screening.
The creator has been deeply involved in the live action adaptation of his manga series, with responsibilities extending beyond that of a typical executive producer. He has been actively participating in various aspects of the production, from casting to scriptwriting.
Eiichiro Oda is once again teaming up with executive producers Matt Owens, Steven Maeda, Marty Adelstein, and others to bring One Piece live action season 2 to life.
Production kicked off in June 2024, and the new season is adapting five arcs from the original manga: Loguetown, Reverse Mountain (Twin Cape), Whiskey Peak, Little Garden, and Drum Island.
Fans can look forward to seeing familiar faces like Inaki Godoy as Monkey D. Luffy, Emily Rudd as Nami, Mackenyu Arata as Roronoa Zoro, Taz Skylar as Sanji, and Jacob Gibson as Usopp. Additionally, new characters are being introduced to the live action series.
