Oshi no Ko Season 2 ending explained
The final episode of Season 2 began with Ruby Hoshino and Akane Kurokawa reporting to the police about the body they had discovered at the end of episode 12.
The body was confirmed to be that of Goro Amamiya, the doctor who once treated Sarina Tendoji and Ai Hoshino. Goro had been murdered by a mysterious figure, only to later be reincarnated as Aqua Hoshino.
Ruby finally realized that one of her main motivations in life—to find Goro—had come to an end. In her past life, Ruby had been Sarina, a patient under Goro’s care, and his death left her devastated. Aqua, too, learned the grim truth that Goro’s body had simply been left in the woods after his murder.
Aqua then apologized to Akane, expressing that it was his fault she and Ruby had been put through such a distressing experience. He felt responsible for leading them on a search culminating in such a grim discovery.
Akane broke down upon seeing Aqua’s anguish and feared that their relationship would not survive the ordeal. However, Aqua reassured her that, with the death of his father, Seijuro Uehara, and the discovery of Goro’s body, he could now abandon his quest for revenge and focus on being with her.
Ruby visited the Miyazaki hospital the next day, where she met a mysterious child who seemed to know something about her past. The child revealed that Dr. Goro had been Ai Hoshino’s physician and had gone missing on the very day Ai gave birth.
Around that same time, two suspicious men had been seen at the hospital—one of whom would later become Ai’s murderer. When Ruby pressed for the second man’s identity, the mysterious child insisted that it was her responsibility to find out.
Meanwhile, the B-Komachi group continued shooting their music video. As everyone worked hard to finish the production, Ruby couldn’t stop contemplating that the two people she had cherished the most—Ai and Goro—had been taken from her.
Moreover, one person was still responsible for these tragedies who had yet to be caught. Ruby then resolved to find that person and kill them.
As Ruby pondered the situation further, she slowly realized that Aqua, even from a young age, had been driven by some hidden purpose. He had pursued acting with a remarkable intensity.
Akane later revealed to Ruby that Aqua had been searching for someone in the entertainment industry. Still, when Ruby asked for more details, Akane refused, fearing that it could cause Aqua to relapse into his old, vengeful ways.
On their last day in Miyazaki, the group visited a shrine. While everyone else wished for success in their careers, Ruby wished that Aqua would finally uncover the person responsible for Ai and Goro’s deaths.
Some time passed, and the B-Komachi music video was finally released, propelling the group to new heights of popularity.
Six months later, they continued to ride this wave of success, marking a major turning point for Ruby and her fellow idols. The season ended on a hopeful note, with Aqua, Ruby, Kana, and Akane’s careers on the rise.
In the final scene of Season 2, a mysterious blonde character—who had introduced himself as Ruby’s father in episode 10—was seen beside a woman who had just suffered a terrible accident. Her last words were a chilling accusation, as she calls the blonde man as a murderer.
This revelation aligned with the theory that the mysterious character might be responsible for the deaths of Ai and Goro, and that they were not his only victims.
Aqua had initially believed his father to be Seijuro Uehara because he shared DNA with his half-sibling, Taiki Himekawa. However, it remained possible that Aqua and Taiki were half-siblings even if Seijuro was not their father. Instead, both could be the sons of the mysterious blonde character who had visited Ai’s grave.
There was a possibility that Ai had an affair with this man, and the same could be true for Airi Himekawa, Seijuro’s wife. This implied that Aqua’s real target for revenge was his biological father, who seemed to be behind the series of dark events impacting many characters.
If Seijuro had discovered that Taiki was not his biological son, it might have driven him to a breaking point. Alternatively, an unknown mastermind could have manipulated events to make it appear that Seijuro and Airi had committed a double suicide—especially given that Taiki himself had admitted the reasons for their deaths were unclear.
Ultimately, the series suggests that betrayal and twisted relationships are often the catalysts for murder. The real mastermind behind the tragedies remains shrouded in mystery. Aqua’s mission for justice, and Ruby’s determination to confront the truth, set the stage for what is to come.
