Oshi no Ko season 2 episode 3 recap
Oshi no Ko Season 2 Episode 3 opened with a frustrated Ruby Hoshino. B-Komachi’s inactivity stemmed from Kana Arima’s intense rehearsals for the Tokyo Blade 2.5D stage play. Meanwhile, a pivotal moment unfolded for Aqua.
Witnessing the electrifying performance of Smash Heaven alongside Akane, Aqua was captivated by the acting, innovative staging, and well-written script. This experience ignited a spark of determination within him.
Their night took an unexpected turn when they encountered Sumiaki Raida, the event representative for Magic Floor, the company managing Smash Heaven. Here, Aqua voiced his concerns about the difficulty of rewriting the Tokyo Blade script.
To his surprise, he learned that the mastermind behind Smash Heaven’s success was none other than Gao, the very writer Abiko Samejima, the play’s creator, had demanded to be removed. While Raida acknowledged Gao’s talent, he explained the limitations imposed by Abiko’s prominent status.
Determined to bridge the gap, Aqua, Akane, Kana, and Melt sought help from Yoriko Kichijouji, the legendary manga creator whose work, Love Today, was adapted into a show in Oshi no Ko season 1. Aqua believed Yoriko, as a fellow creator, might be able to mend the fractured relationship between Abiko and Gao.
However, their hopes were met with resistance. Aqua proposed that Yoriko leverage her experience to help Abiko see reason, highlighting the difficulty creators faced when accepting criticism, often only listening to respected peers. Unfortunately, Yoriko revealed she had already intervened.
Abiko remained fixated on her negative experience with the Love Today adaptation, blaming the production crew for ruining her work. Despite Abiko’s abrasive personality, Yoriko expressed her unwavering support and offered a compromise–she couldn’t advocate for Gao’s return, but she could suggest that Abiko witness Smash Heaven’s success firsthand.
The episode delved deeper into Abiko’s struggles during Yoriko’s visit. Abiko had isolated herself to meet her manga deadlines while neglecting the 2.5D play rewrites. The root of her resistance was revealed as Abiko was deeply affected by the perceived mismanagement of the Love Today adaptation.
Once Yoriko’s assistant and a huge fan of Love Today, Abiko was devastated by the show’s poor reception. The episode ended with a glimmer of hope as Abiko decided to attend the Smash Heaven stage play.
