What is Blue Lock about?
Blue Lock is a popular sports manga series created by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and illustrated by Yusuke Nomura. It has been serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine since August 2018.
The story follows Yoichi Isagi, a talented high school soccer player who yearns to become the best striker in the world, and lead Japan to a World Cup victory.
However, the national team lacks a standout striker with the killer instinct to dominate. To address this, the ambitious Japanese Football Association launched Blue Lock, a radical training program designed to forge the ultimate egotistical striker.
Isagi and 299 other talented young forwards are isolated in a cutthroat facility where they compete in rigorous training exercises.
Only one player will become victorious and have the right to be called the “egotistical striker” Japan needs.
The animation studio Eight Bit produced an anime adaptation of Blue Lock, which premiered on October 9, 2022.
