Solo Leveling season 2 episode 4 recap
The episode began with Sung Jinwoo exiting his special dungeon. He needed the petrified blood of the demon monarch to complete the Elixir of Life, which would save his mother.
During his time in the Demon Castle, Jinwoo had leveled up. He acknowledged that remaining at E-rank was no longer feasible, as it was time for him to join higher-level raids.
Jinwoo returned to the Hunter’s Association to have his rank reevaluated. However, it couldn’t read his magic level when he stepped up to their machine. The assessment manager concluded that their machine couldn’t read Jinwoo’s level because he had surpassed its limit, making him an S-rank hunter.
After Jinwoo was told to return in three days for reassessment, the leader of the Hunter’s Guild, Choi Jong-in, approached him. However, Jinwoo did not converse with the S-rank hunter and left without a trace.
Shortly after, the leader of the White Tiger Guild, Baek Yoonho, arrived, which indicated to Jong-in that multiple guilds were scouting Jinwoo.
After visiting his mother, Jinwoo was approached by the Chairman of the Hunter’s Association, Go Gunhee. After confirming his S-rank status, Go Gunhee asked Jinwoo to join the Hunter’s Association.
The Chairman explained that if Jinwoo were to join any of the top five guilds in Korea, it would disrupt the balance between them, giving one guild a distinct advantage.
If he were to sign with the Hunter’s Association, Jinwoo would elevate the Association to be on par with the other guilds.
Jinwoo carefully considered the offer but explained that he belonged in dungeons fighting magical beasts. Gunhee saw that Jinwoo was sincere and that he was different from other hunters they had seen before.
Meanwhile, after being defeated by Sung Il-Hwan, Hwang Dongsoo was left recovering in the hospital. Dongsoo confirmed to his superiors that Il-Hwan was a magical beast that must be stopped. Dongsoo also planned on fighting Il-Hwan again, but this time, he intended to use artifacts to improve his chances.
Jinwoo was also searching for special artifacts to improve his chances of completing his special dungeon. However, these artifacts were very expensive. He couldn’t join any high-level raids yet since he was still an E-rank hunter, so Jinwoo joined the Hunter’s Guild’s A-rank raid as a miner.
As Jinwoo helped collect crystals for the mining team, he waited for their team to take a break to check the A-rank boss in the dungeon.
But right before he could rush in, the Hunter Guild’s vice-captain, Cha Hae-in, stopped him.
