Who is Mitsuri in Demon Slayer?
Mitsuri’s story
Mitsuri’s origin is deeply rooted in tradition, shaped by her desire for a conventional life centered around marriage and family. However, her unique appearance, eating habits, and exceptional strength made men perceive her as unladylike, causing rejection and insecurity.
Determined to find a husband stronger than herself, Mitsuri joined the Demon Slayer Corps. She swiftly ascended the ranks and gained the attention of the Flame Hashira Kyojuro Rengoku by completing the Final Selection in just six months.
She became Kyojuro’s apprentice and mastered Flame Breathing. Evolving Kyojuro’s style, she created Love Breathing, incorporating her superhuman flexibility and a distinctive whip-like Nichirin Sword.
First appearance in the manga and anime
Mitsuri debuted in chapter 45 of the manga, titled “Trial by Hashira,” and episode 22 of season 1, titled “Master of the Mansion.” Her iconic appearance features pale green eyes adorned with long eyelashes and small beauty marks.
With long, light pink hair transitioning into lime green halfway, Mitsuri’s distinctive look is complemented by her magenta-tinted Demon Slayer uniform and a white haori, which was a gift from Kyojuro.
Mitsuri’s personality
She exudes a unique blend of emotions, passion, and joy, earning her the title, Hashira of Love. Despite being shy and easily flustered, she consistently displays kindness, showering others with compliments in her thoughts.
Beneath her gentle demeanor lies a fierce resolve, especially when confronting demons, where Mitsuri abandons mercy for an intense and determined stance.
Why Mitsuri is the strongest female Demon Slayer
While the series has many different Hashiras that have come and gone, the main storyline only mentions three female Pillars in the Demon Slayer lore.
Kanae Kocho is one of the three female Hashira in the series, and we don’t know much about her other than she passed her responsibility as a Hashira to her sister, Shinobu Kocho, the current Insect Hashira.
Shinobu is considered the weakest Hashira because of her inability to decapitate demons. Meanwhile, Mitsuri boasts exceptional physical abilities that could even rival the top-ranking male Hashiras.
With her mastery of Love Breathing, Mitsuri showed she could go up against formidable foes like Upper Rank demons Gyokko and Hantengu during the Swordsmith Village arc.
