Apex Legends added another feather on its cap today.

The team-based battle royale recently celebrated reaching the 70 million mark for its global player base, which only confirms the immense popularity of Respawn Entertainment’s battle royale title since its debut just nine months ago.

Electronic Arts revealed the landmark number in its recently released Q2 2019 financial report. The game publisher named Apex Legends among the highlights of its impressive second quarter performance alongside FIFA Ultimate Team, Madden Ultimate Team, and The Sims 4.

Created by Respawn Entertainment — the developers behind first-person shooter Titanfall — Apex Legends was launched on February 4, 2019 without any prior announcements or marketing efforts.

The gambit paid off, as curious gamers quickly flocked to EA’s Origin store to check it out. Within eight hours, the game already had 1 million players. After a day, the number ballooned to 2.5 million. The game hit the 25 million mark within its first week.

After launching its third season — dubbed “Meltdown” — at the start of the month, the battle royale shooter is now in the thick of its first themed limited-time event. The Halloween-inspired Fight or Fright special runs until November 5.
