Apex Legends topped its rival battle royale game, Fortnite: Battle Royale, to become the most downloaded free-to-play game on the PlayStation Store in both the United States and Europe in 2019.
While Fortnite was the most-downloaded free-to-play title for both regions in the month of December 2019, Apex Legends regularly placed at the top of the charts throughout the year to earn the accolade.
Aside from Fortnite, Apex Legends was downloaded more times than the likes of action RPG Dauntless and fighting game Brawlhalla. Here’s the full list for both the United States and Europe:

Apex Legends was first released in February 2019 on both console and PC to much fanfare, passing the 1 million player mark just eight hours after it dropped. The game then went on to have over 50 million players four weeks following its initial release.
