Respawn Entertainment’s new “Up Close and Personal” teaser trailer has many Apex Legends fans wondering, what just happened?
The trailer shows expected Season 4 legend, James “The Forge” McCormick, being interviewed about his upcoming Apex Games debut.
But, after some technical difficulties, an assailant attacks Forge from behind.
The attacker is Revenant, an Apex Legends character who made his debut during the Fight or Fright Halloween event as the host of the twisted and mysterious Shadowfall limited timed mode.

Respawn Entertainment then issued a statement announcing that Forge was “pronounced dead at the scene.”
EA’s Apex Legends website has also updated its information by having Forge removed from the Season 4 tab.
Instead, the site lists “a mysterious Legend” for Apex Legends Season 4 — Assimilation. It should be no surprise that Revenant will be taking Forge’s place as Season 4’s new Legend.
Season 4 is still set to release on February 4 with a brand new battle-pass and the new Sentinel bolt-action sniper rifle.
