Apex Legends is getting its second official tournament, and it will take place in Krakow, Poland from September 13-15.
The free-to-play battle royale game that launched earlier in February this year has notched up quite a fan following and developer Respawn is hoping to tap on the competitive aspect with a new Preseason Invitational.
This invitation-only tournament will feature 80 teams from across the world facing off for a share of US$500,000 prize pool. These teams will be chosen by Respawn — which means that there will be no qualifiers. Teams can sign up online on the Apex Legends website for a chance to get picked.
The Preseason Invitational is not the first major tournament Apex has announced this year. The first Respawn-sanctioned tournament was the EXP Pro-Am that took place in early July, and there are already plans for the 2019 X Games scheduled for August.
Unlike the Apex Legends Preseason Invitational, the X Games tournament will be a mix of invited teams and squads who have made it through online qualifiers that were held in June.
