Disable Spot Shadows
The quickest way to fix this issue is by disabling Spot Shadows from the graphics settings. This specific setting has been causing the Engine error to appear, especially for Nvidia GPUs.
It will be also wise to temporarily disable every shadows-related setting, just to stay on the safe side.
Update your graphics drivers
If you’re playing Apex Legends on outdated GPU drivers, then you’re bound to run into different issues, including the Engine error.
So, go to the official website of your GPU’s manufacturer and download the latest version of the drivers from there.
Alternatively, depending on your GPU, you can use the Nvidia GeForce Experience app or AMD Radeon Software for the same purpose.
Repair the game files
If the game files are corrupt or missing, you’ll constantly run into the Engine error in Apex Legends. Thankfully, the files can be repaired or replaced easily on Steam and Origin.
On Steam, go to your library and right-click on Apex Legends. Access its Properties, click on Installed Files, and then select ‘Verify integrity of game files.’
