2020 was indeed the year in which Garena Championship Series (GCS) teams dominated. Earlier that year, we saw Flash Wolves claim their very first international title at the Arena of Valor Premier League (APL) and just last December, MAD Team bagged the coveted Arena of Valor International Championship (AIC) trophy.
After surviving the Group Stage under Group B, arguably the “Group of Death” in this tournament, MAD Team proceeded to the Playoffs under the shadow of Vietnamese favorites, Team Flash and Saigon Phantom.
MAD Team unleashed their inner madness in the Lower Bracket, pulling off back-to-back upsets against two-time RoV Pro League champions, Buriram United Esports and 2019 AIC champions Team Flash. With that, they made their way back up to face Saigon Phantom in a Grand Final, best-of-seven series.
