European team, Nova Esports, have won the first-ever Brawl Stars World Championship.
The grand finals were held last weekend at the Busan Exhibition and Convention Center in South Korea.
Eight finalists competed for the lion’s share of the US$250,000 prize pool. Here’s how it all went down:
The format
Five game modes were laid out for the teams to play in 3v3 setups, namely:
- Set 1 — Gem Grab
- Set 2 — Brawl Ball
- Set 3 — Heist
- Set 4 — Bounty
- Set 5 — Siege
These modes were played in order, with a best-of-three format for each set. The winner of this best-of-five series advances to the semifinals.

Eight finalists from different regions qualified for this mobile tournament:
- Tribe Gaming (North America)
- Spacestation Gaming Brazil (Latin America)
- PSG Esports (Europe)
- Nova Esports (Europe)
- 3Bears (South Korea)
- Animal Chanpuru (Japan)
- Spacestation Gaming (Southeast Asia)
- Dr. HK (HK, Macau, Taiwan)
Quarterfinals
3Bears 2 – 1 Spacestation Gaming
South Korean team 3Bears took the first victory of the series in Gem Grab, but the Spacestation players were able to even out the standing in Brawl Ball. However, 3Bears dominated Heist and Bounty, taking the 3-1 series victory.
Spacestation Gaming Brazil 2 – 3 Tribe Gaming
It was a pretty close fight between these two teams, who traded games back and forth with Tribe taking Gem Grab and Heist, and Spacestation winning Brawl Ball and Bounty.
With the series tied at 2-2, Tribe won the final game of Siege to take the series 3-2.
PSG Esports 2 – 3 Animal Chanpuru
Another closely contested game saw PSG Esports fall to Japanese team, Animal Chanpuru, with the Japanese team getting the wins on Gem Grab, Brawl Ball, and Siege.

Nova Esports 3 – 0 Dr. HK
Nova Esports absolutely dominated this match, racing to a quick 3-0 sweep in the final series of the Quarterfinals.
Semifinals
Tribe Gaming 0 – 3 Nova Esports
Nova Esports continued their dominant run with another 3 – 0 sweep, this time over Tribe Gaming.
3Bears 2 – 3 Animal Chanpuru
Hometown heroes, 3Bears, and Japanese team, Animal Chanpuru, contested the closest match of the tournament so far.
3Bears scored first blood by winning both Gem Grab and Brawl Ball, but Animal Chanpuru managed to fight back, taking both Heist and Bounty to tie up the series.
In the end, Animal Chanpuru were able to complete the reverse sweep, winning Siege to take the victory and book their ticket to the Grand Finals.
Grand Finals
Nova Esports 3 – 0 Animal Chanpuru
Nova Esports proved that they are by far the best Brawl Stars team in the world with another absolutely dominating performance, and their third sweep of the playoffs, taking down Animal Chanpuru 3-0 in record time.
With their win in the Brawl Stars World Championship, Nova has completed the Supercell triple crown, as the organization also won the Clash Royale League 2018 World Finals, and the Clash of Clans 2018 World Championship in ESL Hamburg.
