Black Ops 6 is merely a week away from release, and Blizzard has finally acknowledged the most important part of its upcoming game: The Black Ops 6 anti-cheat. According to the developer, Ricochet has received some significant upgrades.

Recently, Blizzard found itself in hot water after players were falsely banned in Warzone and Modern Warfare 3. The developer acknowledged the issue and reversed the bans, but some players remained outraged over the unfair punishment.

In response, Blizzard promised a “progress report” to address the situation, and just a day later, they delivered—with a list of upgrades for the Ricochet anti-cheat system.

In the new blog post, Blizzard promises that the upgraded Ricochet will ban cheaters as soon as they are spotted—on a good day, even within the first hour of a game.

Black Ops 6 is set to release on October 25, and just a week before the global launch, the developer has shared a list of upgrades for the anti-cheat. According to Blizzard, they’ve collected data from cheaters on the console and used it to train Ricochet to detect bad actors.

The data shared says that during weekend one, cheaters lasted around ten matches before being banned. After updates in weekend two, that dropped to five matches, with 25% of bans occurring after just one match. When this was tested on PC, the software “came in a little hot,” causing the recent errors, Blizzard said.

Now, the developer is aiming to bring it down to cheaters getting banned within one hour of gameplay, a change that will be implemented when Black Ops 6 goes live. Here are all the notable upgrades:

  • An updated version of the kernel-level driver
  • New machine-learning behavioral systems focused on the speed of detection
  • New machine-learning detection models to analyze gameplay to combat aim bots
  • Upgrades when ranked play launches, which include continuous examinations to determine if leaderboard placements are accurate

These upgrades will be applied across all Call of Duty titles that use Ricochet anti-cheat, including the false ban victim, including Call of Duty Warzone.
