Treyarch has rolled out a major Black Ops 6 update on Thursday, January 9, 2025 (US time), aimed at addressing widespread player concerns, particularly in the Zombies mode.
This BO6 update reverts several changes implemented on January 3, which many players felt diminished the fun and flow of the beloved mode.
This patch also brings improvements to Multiplayer and Warzone, ensuring a better gameplay experience across the board.

Breaking down the Black Ops 6 update (January 9, 2025)
BO6 Zombies
The update focuses heavily on Directed Mode, the Big Game Major Augment of the Shadow Rift ammo mod, as well as restoring a key speedrun tactic in the Terminus map.
Treyarch addressed player frustration over the changes, stating:
“We know it’s not fun to see a ‘fix’ multiple weeks later for something that wasn’t bothering you in the first place, so we’re reverting the Directed Mode changes, giving Shadow Rift four new buffs, and scheduling a fix to allow speedrunners to safely use the Shock Charge tactic in Terminus again. The first two are live now, with the speedrun fix needing some extra testing before it goes live,” Treyarch stated.
Additionally, visual effect issues on Citadelle des Morts have been fixed. Crashes occurring when using a sword with the Void Sheath Augment while Aether Shroud is active has also been addressed.
BO6 Zombies’ Dead Light Green Light game mode, part of the ongoing Squid Game Event, now includes Liberty Falls in its map rotation.
BO6 Multiplayer
For Multiplayer enthusiasts, XP rewards in the Red Light Green Light mode have been increased, making matches more rewarding.
Warzone
Meanwhile, Warzone players can now enjoy the restored Armory, offering better access to loadout customization.
