Almost every Call of Duty title features the iconic SVD sniper rifle, also known as Dragunov, and Black Ops 6 continues this trend.

It’s one of the few Soviet weapons that comes with a modest vertical kick and the ability to land precise follow-up shots.

However, you can’t use SVD right away if you’re a beginner because the weapon is locked by default.

Here’s a detailed guide on how to unlock SVD in Black Ops 6 followed by a quick look at the weapon’s characteristics.

The only way to unlock SVD in Black Ops 6 is by reaching level 25 in the game. If you’re new to the franchise, BO6 requires you to earn a ton of XP in order to level up and unlock weapons. Although one weapon from each type or class is available immediately to accommodate new players, the SVD unfortunately isn’t among them.

Therefore, you must focus on completing daily and weekly challenges, participating in the double XP events and playing the objective-based gameplay modes if you want to earn plenty of XP and unlock the SVD sniper rifle quickly.

When it comes to the weapon characteristics, the SVD comes with a total of three magazines each with a maximum ammo capacity of 10 bullets. The weapon is well known for its extremely high firecap but Activision has significantly nerfed it when compared to previous iterations.

For example, in Modern Warfare 2, the SVD could take down enemies with a single body shot. But in Black Ops 6, it’s only lethal with a headshot, so pinpoint accuracy is essential to get the most out of it.

Thankfully, it’s easy to land follow-up shots. So even if you manage to strike a bullet to the body, you’d still have the opportunity to take the enemy down. Just remember to use Left thumbstick while ADS to hold the breath and keep the weapon steady.
