Megabomb, aka Mega Abomination, is one of the elite enemies in Modern Warfare 3 Zombies. The game categorizes Megabombs as special zombies that you can find and hunt down in the mode to complete challenges and story quests, namely “Most Firepower” in Act 3 – Confrontation.
Finding the Megabomb MW3 Zombies boss in the vast map of Urzikstan is daunting, as there is no quest marker or any unique marker on the map that directly highlights the said enemy’s location, nor does the game share any hint on where you can find it.

Moreover, some players who manage to come across the Megabomb while exploring the higher tier zones often fail to kill it before the Aether Storm starts kicking in and have to exfil out. That said, here’s our guide on how to find and defeat the Megabomb MW3 Zombies boss.
Where to find Megabomb location MW3 Zombies
When it comes to finding the Megabomb location MW3 Zombies players will want to head northeast of Zaravan City, at the entry point of the Tier III zone, near the bridge. To make things easier, we have highlighted the exact location where the Megabomb spawns.
Now, even though after the Season 1 Reloaded update, some significant things have changed in the MW3 Zombies map. This includes the removal of Legacy Fortress and the addition of Dokkaebi’s Fortress and a few others, however, the spawn location of the Megabomb remains the same as we verified it right before writing this guide.
So head to the marked location near the Tier III zone to spawn the Megabomb. If you don’t find it there, it means other players have already killed it. In this case, you can either play the match as usual and exfil out and try to fight the Megabomb in the next match, or directly exfil out and hop into the next match.
How to defeat the Megabomb MW3 Zombies boss
When it comes to defeating the Megabomb MW3 Zombies boss, you must keep three things in mind. These are:
- The Megabomb has very high HP
- It has long-range beam attacks
- It can also perform melee and plunge attacks, where the latter one is the deadliest one
Moreover, it can also spawn Nest Crawlers Adding on to that, you have to fight the regular zombies while fighting the Megabomb. But don’t let this overwhelm you, as defeating the Megabomb is easy if you are prepared.
Here’s what you need to prepare for the Megabomb fight:
- Perks: Jugger-Nog, Speed Cola and Deadshot Daiquiri
- Weapon: Rare or Gold rarity AR or LMGs with level 3 Pack A Punch
- Tactical: Decoy grenade
- Lethal: Anything will do. Semtex is a better option, though
- Ammo mods: Shatterblast, Cryo Freeze or Napalm Burst
Once you have everything, go near Megabomb and lure him to the Tier II zone near the buildings shown in the screenshot below. From there, keep shooting the glowing head of the Megabomb to deal critical damage while avoiding the attacks and slowly lure him to any of the Ammo Caches or the Deadbolt Turret.
After that, just take cover and keep shooting to lower the boss’s HP. You will soon run out of ammo. This is why you need to be near the Ammo Cache to restore your ammo and tactical and lethal equipment. Keep repeating the process, and one by one, you will be able to destroy the Megabomb’s heads and eventually defeat it.
That being said, the answer is no if you are wondering whether you need all the items and gear mentioned above to kill a Megabomb. We have defeated the Megabomb with a Rare rarity AR with level 1 Pack A Punch solo. The main problem of the fight is running out of ammo and the nearby zombies.
During our encounters, we noticed that if you stay near the buildings southwest of Megabomb’s locations, only a few zombies spawn. Moreover, the buildings around there also serve as cover that you can use to avoid the laser attacks from the Megabomb.

Here is how you can complete the Most Firepower MW3 Zombies story quest:
- Pack A Punch a weapon to level 3
- Kill 100 zombies with level 3 Pack A Punch weapon
- Kill a Megabomb with level 3 Pack A Punche weapon
You will complete the Most Firepower MW3 Zombies story quest once you complete the three objectives and exfil out.
