Players can access Ranked Play when they reach level 55. All unrestricted gameplay items are unlocked in this mode.
However, some weapons, killstreaks, equipment, and gameplay content are restricted in ranked matches to match CDL rules. Additionally, friendly fired is enabled.

MW3 Rank and Skill Division
In Modern Warfare 3, rank and skill division are two different categories.
You rank represents your Ranked Career, since it is permanent and persists across seasons. All players start from Rank 1. Winning matches give you stars to rank up.
Meanwhile, skill divisions rate players based on their skill in a particular season. You can advance through the following eight skill divisions by earning skill rating (SR) depending on your personal and team performance.
- Bronze
- Silver
- Gold
- Platinum
- Diamond
- Crimson
- Iridescent
- Top 250
In subsequent seasons, you will be dropped back three tiers, with Diamond I being the highest skill division that you can start with in a new season.
