Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 is set to be formally revealed on June 9, and an exciting leak about the Prestige System has further heightened player interest. The Prestige System in Black Ops 6 is said to be a return to the glory days.
While newer players are entirely focused on the ranked grind, experienced COD players have been fondly reminiscing about the old Prestige system.
COD community forums are packed with players urging the developer to bring back the classic Prestige system, where the stakes were higher. According to the players, “grind just feels like it’s over.”
It appears that Activision may have listened to the community. Credible COD leaker BobNetworkUK claims that Black Ops 6 will mark the return of the classic Prestige System.
Will Prestige system in Black Ops 6 be the old one?
Yes. According to credible leaks, Activision will swap out the seasonal system for the classic Prestige system in Black Ops 6.
The old Prestige was removed in Black Ops: Cold War back in 2020. Initially, the reaction was positive, but players eventually wanted the old system back.
The new Prestige worked similarly to a battle pass, where players could unlock new rewards in a certain time period and would return to level 1 when the season wrapped up. One perk was that they could keep their cosmetic progress and items unlocked.
The classic system, however, took away all the weapons, challenges, and any other progress made before the player maxed out the experience on Level 55. This meant, that at level 1, players must start fresh without any perks.
However, players gained a special symbol indicating that they are in Prestige mode. This symbol was quite a flex in the COD community as it relayed how much a player put at stake to undergo the same grind all over again. However, this was replaced by Officer ranks in Cold War season one.
The community has warmly welcomed the news of old Prestige’s comeback in Black Ops 6, a feature they have been eagerly anticipating for quite some time. It’ll be interesting to see if Activision reintroduces the old Prestige system in Black Ops 6 as it was or makes adjustments to better suit the current player base.
This information will be revealed during the Xbox Games Showcase on June 9, 2024, at 10 am PT.
