Curious about whether you can disable Black Ops 6 crossplay? ONE Esports has the answer you need.

Treyarch has excellent news for competitive players in BO6. Starting in Season 2, console players will no longer have to play against PC players.

The latest Call of Duty installment got off to a strong start, holding onto a solid player base for a few months, but the recent months haven’t been as kind.

By December 2024, the player count had dropped by nearly 45%, and by January 2025, it had shrunk to half of what it was at launch in October. While several factors have contributed to the decline, the loyal player base firmly believes cheaters are the main culprit. In response, Treyarch outlined several new measures in a recent blog post.

Cheaters are inevitable in multiplayer games, but since BO6’s launch, fans have complained about skill disparity that arises from crossplay.

The answer is yes. Treyarch recently confirmed in a blog post that players will have the option to enable or disable Black Ops 6 crossplay starting with Season 2, launching on January 28, 2025.

So far, console and PC players have no choice but to share lobbies. While the disparity is less noticeable in casual Multiplayer modes, it becomes a major concern in Ranked Play, often feeling like an unfair advantage.

Movement is much smoother on the console, whereas PC players benefit from superior aiming precision and faster reaction times with a mouse and keyboard.

This imbalance has led to growing frustration within the community, prompting Treyarch to introduce the long-awaited option to toggle Black Ops 6 crossplay.

However, the option will be limited to console players only, meaning they can choose to queue strictly with others on the same platform. PC players, on the other hand, will still be required to compete in mixed lobbies.

Additionally, the toggle feature will initially apply only to ranked matches, though Treyarch has hinted that it could expand to standard Multiplayer modes if player feedback is positive. These changes, along with major improvements to the game’s RICOCHET anti-cheat system, will be introduced in the upcoming season.
