With the Warzone Season 1 release date approaching, Call of Duty has released a deep dive blog post into what is to be expected.
The Warzone Season 1 update is a part of the overall Season 1 update for Modern Warfare 3, bringing tons of new content and changes to the game.

Warzone Season 1 patch notes brings plenty of changes
According to Call of Duty, players will be able to play every single mode on the new map, Urzikstan, as a way to celebrate its release and the start of Season 1.
Below you can find the details about the launch modes straight from the blog post:
- Launch Modes: Battle Royale, Resurgence, and Plunder
- We will be introducing areas of Urzikstan to a pool of Resurgence locations, along with areas across Ashika and Vondel, as part of a new Limited Time Mode called Urzikstan Reurgence, which will focus on several select Points of Interest from around the Urzikstan map:
- Orlov Military Base
- Popov Power
- Zaravan Suburbs
- We will be introducing areas of Urzikstan to a pool of Resurgence locations, along with areas across Ashika and Vondel, as part of a new Limited Time Mode called Urzikstan Reurgence, which will focus on several select Points of Interest from around the Urzikstan map:
- In-Season Modes: Lockdown returns, and the brand new Limited-Time-Mode, Slay Ride Resurgence, makes its holiday debut!
Don’t worry though, after the first 48-hour window has passed, both Ashika Island and Vondel will return as playable maps.
Warzone Season 1 movement changes
In terms of movement, fans can expect the addition of several MW3 mechanics not previously found in the Modern Warfare 2 version of Warzone along with some fine-tuning. You can find all the movement changes below:
- Slide canceling.
- Tac-Stance.
- ADS while sliding.
- Running while reloading
- A slight movement boost when using the Stim Tactical.
- Additional changes will be detailed in the upcoming Patch Notes.
Warzone Season 1 gameplay changes
In addition, many other aspects of gameplay will be adjusted, including having a backup pistol regardless of your loadout, manual gas masks, improved water combat, and much more. For the full list of gameplay changes, check out the blog post here.
Warzone Season 1 new perks
There will also be five new Warzone perks entering the game as part of the Warzone Season 1 update. According to Activision, “Movement and rotation opportunities on the new big map of Urzikstan has been a key focus of its design.”
The new perks are as follows:
- Tac Pads: Improves slide distance and allows for full ADS while sliding, along with increased stance transition speeds.
- Commando Gloves: Enables reloading while running.
- Quick-Grip Gloves: Increases your weapon swap speed.
- Climbing Boots: Increases climbing and mantling speed aspect.
- Overkill: Allows you to pick two Primary Weapons.
Warzone Season 1 new Gulag
The new Warzone Gulag returns to the standard 3-lane small map. A new feature of the Gulag, however, is the random events. You can jump in and have it be night vision, ascenders to escape, or even one with money in it so you can start with some cash.
