Black Ops 6 Season 2 brings in numerous exciting content, including the Overdrive game mode.
This brand-new mode is an electrifying twist to the classic Team Deathmatch, blending strategic gameplay with fast-paced action.

Whether you’re a seasoned veteran or a newcomer, this ONE Esports guide walks you through everything you need to know to dominate this mode.
What is Overdrive in BO6? Game mode explained
In Overdrive, teams compete to be the first to reach the maximum number of stars. Stars are earned through eliminations and vary depending on the skill and precision of your takedowns. Here’s how to rack them up:

- Basic Eliminations (1 Star): Earned by finishing off an enemy with body shots.
- Core Medal Eliminations (2 Stars): Awarded for skillful plays like headshots or melee attacks.
- Distinguished Medal Eliminations (3 Stars): Reserved for the most impressive takedowns, such as multi-kills or other challenging feats.
As you earn stars, you’ll unlock special Operator abilities to gain an edge in battle. The more stars you collect, the more powerful your Operator becomes. Here’s the breakdown:

- 1 Star: Awakened Senses – See enemies through walls and replenish health after every elimination.
- 3 Stars: Physical Enhancements – Increased movement and reloading speed.
- 6 Stars: Augmented Handling – Improved hip-fire accuracy, faster sprint-to-fire and aim-down-sight (ADS) speeds.
Once you’ve earned all three buffs, Overdrive activates. This supercharged state lets you earn double the stars for every elimination, accelerating your team’s progress toward victory.
Tips for maximizing Overdrive state
Go for Core and Distinguished Medal Eliminations whenever possible to maximize stars. Pair melee attacks or headshots with high mobility to stay in control of engagements.
Play strategically when approaching Overdrive. Avoid risky engagements that could break your streak. Use Awakened Senses to spot enemies through walls and prepare for encounters.

Communicate with your team to set traps and control key areas of the map. Cover teammates attempting to get Overdrive to help them maintain their streak.
Familiarize yourself with the layout of each map to utilize cover and high-ground positions effectively. Use power positions to control enemy movement and secure stars more safely.
