With Modern Warfare 3 on its final season and Black Ops 6 on the horizon, a common question among players is, “Will MW3 skins transfer to BO6?”
Cosmetic skins, including operators, blueprints, and weapon camos, have become an essential part of the Call of Duty ecosystem, with players investing heavily in building up their collections.
As the BO6 release date approaches, many are eager to find out whether their MW3 items will carry over to the new title.
Will MW3 skins transfer to BO6? Here’s the official answer
Over the years, Call of Duty has integrated a shared progression system across its titles, particularly in Multiplayer and Warzone modes. This allowed players to unlock weapons, operators, and cosmetics in one game, which could then be accessed in other titles.
However, the Black Ops and Modern Warfare sub-series have historically been treated as distinct ecosystems. Cosmetics unlocked in one sub-series have typically not carried over to the other, maintaining a clear separation between the two.
This holds true for Black Ops 6. So, to answer the question directly—no, MW3 skins will not transfer to BO6.
Activision confirmed this in an official blog post on June 9, 2024: “We want to make sure that everybody starts fresh together, as we move into an all-new experience with the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6.”
“Allowing everyone to experience the Black Ops universe the way it’s meant to be played, learning the era-specific weapons and gear, learning the gameplay innovations like Omnimovement, and keeping that signature Black Ops style is important. Therefore, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II and Modern Warfare III content will not carry forward to the Black Ops 6 premium experience,” Activision added.
The one exception to this rule is the Woods Operator Pack from the BO6 Vault Edition, which is offered as a preorder bonus. This exclusive bundle is currently available in MW3 and will also transfer to BO6 when it launches.
Will MW3 skins transfer to Warzone in the BO6 era?
Thankfully, the answer is yes.
“Carry Forward content for players of Call of Duty: Warzone will continue, with Modern Warfare II, Modern Warfare III, and Black Ops 6 content being integrated with the arrival of Season 1,” Activision stated.
Warzone has long supported cross-game cosmetic usage, allowing players to bring over skins, blueprints, and other items from multiple CoD titles.
This means you could still flex your favorite MW3 and MW2 operator skins, weapon blueprints, and camos in Warzone, even though they won’t be usable in BO6 Multiplayer and Zombies modes.
