The Intel Extreme Masters Katowice 2024 (IEM Katowice 2024) takes place at the iconic Spodek Arena to host the best Counter-Strike 2 teams in the world.

What is IEM Katowice 2024?

One of the biggest and most prestigious tournaments in Counter-Strike, the IEM Katowice 2024 starts the series of major competitions this year.

It hosts 24 formidable teams vying for the largest share of the whopping US$1 million prize pool, as well as the guaranteed slots in the IEM Cologne 2024, BLAST Premier World Final, and Esports World Cup 2024.

Additionally, BLAST Premier ranking points are up for grabs in the tournament.

IEM Katowice 2024 format

The IEM Katowice 2024 is divided into three stages: play-in, group stage, and playoffs.

Sixteen (16) teams compete in a double elimination format in the play-in phase for the eight spots in group stage. All opening matches are do-or-die, while the remaining ones are best-of-three.

In the group stage, the eight qualified and eight directly invited teams are split into two GSL groups. The squads clash in best-of-three matches, with the top three teams entering the playoffs.

The two group winners advance straight to the semifinals, while the runners-up and third-placers move to the quarterfinals as high seeds and low seeds, respectively.

In the playoffs, the six remaining teams battle in a single elimination format. The quarterfinals and semifinals are best-of-three, while the grand final is a best-of-five.
