With the launch of Counter-Strike 2 comes an all-new Premier system and CS Rating for players to grind out.

Valve refers to it as “a precise display of your skill in Counter-Strike 2. With regional and World Leaderboards you’ll know exactly how you stack up.”

The new CS2 ranking system is built around a CS Rating leaderboard
The CS Ratings will feed into seasonal leaderboards, allowing you to always give the next season a try.
You can filter the leaderboards by season, region (or world), or by just those on your friend list. It will also show you how many total wins you have and what percentile you fall into across the world.
How to get a CS2 Rating
When you first jump into CS2, you won’t have any sort of rank or rating. This will only become available once you’ve managed to win at least 10 CS2 Premier matches.
This is the start of the CS2 ranking system. These placement matches will help sort you out into the appropriate CS Rating based on how you do in your matches, whether you win or lose, and the rating of your opponents.
If you are playing against players with a rating of 20,000 for instance, and you’re winning those matches, you will start with a higher rating than if you were losing to 12,000 rating players during your placement matches.
Once you win your 10 matches, the game will give you your very first CS Rating. From there, the system will try to place you into appropriate matches for your skill level.
Wins will earn you points, while losses will lose you points in your rating. It’s important to note that ties will potentially lose or gain you points depending on whether or not the system thinks you were supposed to win.
If you’re on the underdog team, you may still gain rating for tying the match, so don’t stress too much over a tie.
CS2 Rating tiers
As you move up the ranks, you’ll also move into different color thresholds. These symbolize a new tier within the CS2 ranking system.
- Grey: 0-4,999
- Light blue: 5,000-9,999
- Dark blue: 10,000-14,999
- Dark purple: 15,000-19,999
- Pink: 20,000-24,999
- Red: 25,000-29,999
- Gold: 30,000-35,000
