Adroit Esports pulled off an incredible 2-1 upset victory over BOOM Esports in a thrilling match that had ONE Esports Dota 2 SEA League fans on the edge of their seats.
The third and final game of the series was an absolute nailbiter with John Anthony “Natsumi-” Vargas’s’ Terrorblade proving to everyone that he was the ultimate hard carry Adroit needed to survive in the competition.
Game One
BOOM Esports opened the series with an unexpected midlane Venomancer for Rafli Fathur “Mikoto” Rahman, which countered Adroit Esports’ Magnus pick for Mc Nicholson “Mac” Villanueva.
The Indonesian squad had a slow start in Game 1. But, once both teams managed to group up their heroes, BOOM Esports’ support players, Brizio Adi “Hyde” Putra and Alfi “Khezcute” Nelphyana came in clutch during pivotal team fights.
Hyde on his Winter Wyvern landed a massive Winter’s Curse on Adroit’s heroes inside the Rosh Pit and stopped the team from claiming the Aegis of the Immortal for John Anthony “Natsumi-” Vargas. During Adroit’s second Roshan attempt, Marvin “Boomy” Rushton found Mikoto’s Venomancer and tossed him into the Rosh Pit. In response, Khezcute immediately swapped him to safety. That’s when BOOM Esports swooped in and teamwiped Adroit.
Saieful “Fbz” Ilham also had an amazing game on the Doom, as he constantly found the perfect targets to cast his Doom ultimate on. BOOM Esports then continued to extend their lead by taking control of the entire map and winning lopsided team fights, until Adroit was forced to surrender.
Game Two
In the following game of the series, Adroit was able to capitalize on BOOM’s weak draft. Mac succeeded in redeeming himself on the Magnus as he destroyed Mikoto’s Silencer in the middle lane. Adroit finished BOOM off with a lopsided 24-5 final score and forced a final elimination game.

Game Three
The final game of the day was an absolute thriller as both teams fought valiantly in a do-or-die elimination match.
BOOM took the early game lead from Adroit, since three of their members were able to level up quickly and gain a substantial gold lead. But, Adroit’s superior hero draft would once again prove to make all the difference, as their two tanky supports in Tidehunter and Treant Protector provided the team with the lockdown they needed in key moments in the game.
BOOM was then forced to play a lot safer, attempting to start fights on multiple fronts. But Adroit’s positioning was too good as they moved around the map with all five heroes grouped up constantly. Mikoto’s Invoker heavily relied on his Aeon Disk to survive; however, once the item’s damage immunity effect wore off, his hero immediately melted to John Anthony “Natsumi-” Vargas’s Terrorblade damage.
Adroit utilized two key factors which helped them secure the late game win against BOOM. First was how when Jun “Bok” Kanehara’s Vengeful Spiriit reached level 20, he unlocked her recently changed Vengeance Aura attack range buff that helped Natsumi- snipe down BOOM’s heroes and buildings from a safe distance.
Second was how Natsumi- picked up the Ballista, a tier 5 neutral item that added +250 more attack range, on top of Bok’s Vengeance Aura. This meant Adroit’s top net worth Terrorblade could attack from a ridiculous distance.
After surviving a grueling 2-1 series against BOOM Esports, Adroit Esports now advances to the Lower Bracket Quarterfinal. They will go up against Geek Fam in another elimination match set on July 17.
Meanwhile, BOOM Esports ends its ONE Esports Dota 2 SEA League run in seventh/eighth place, walking away with US$3,000 in prize money.
