Aliwi “w33” Omar headlines Alliance’s new roster, with Moiez “symetricaL” Lin Mahmood and Nikolay “CTOMAHEH1” Kalchev rounding up the European organization’s new Dota 2 roster.
Jonathan “Loda” Berg, Alliance’s co-founder and CEO, will also be returning in a more hands-on capacity, taking on the coaching role for the roster.
Following Alliance’s disappointing first season in DPC WEU 2021/2022, where they won just one series and finished seventh en route to relegation to Division II, the org is looking to quickly regain their place among Europe’s top echelon.

w33’s stance on gambling sponsors
W33 was reportedly recruited by Alliance in the offseason after The International 10, but turned down a spot on the roster because “he is religious and against betting sponsors,” according to Kelly Ong, chief strategy officer for Alliance.
Vbet, a online gambling and betting operator, is one of Alliance’s largest sponsors and “fund a majority of [Alliance’s] Dota 2 salaries,” according to Ong. Though the org initially tried to “reach a compromise” with the 26-year-old, including removing banners and jersey placements, the midlaner “still said no“.
Following the official roster announcement, the Romanian-Syrian pro made a statement saying that he continues to “stand by his stance” and “not be affiliated with sponsors connected to gambling/betting”.
It’s likely that the midlaner will be sporting a different end tag from his teammates in-game, or omitting it altogether.
