Indonesia-based organization BOOM Esports has finalized its Dota 2 roster with the recent addition of Andrew “Drew” Halim.

Drew will be taking over the carry position for the team, following the exit of Randy “Dreamocel” Sapoetra last month. Drew is mostly known for playing under the Reality Rift banner up until he was released from the team. Shortly after, Reality Rift decided to shut down its Dota 2 division due to the DPC hiatus.

After playing for Reality Rift, Drew played as a stand-in for Neon Esports during the BTS Pro Series Season 3: SEA. He then filled a roster spot for 496 Gaming during Dota Summit 13 Online: SEA, where the team finished second.

BOOM Esports has remained busy throughout the DPC hiatus, playing in 13 online Dota 2 leagues last year. However, the team won only one online event, the ESL SEA Championship 2020, where they defeated Geek Fam in a grand final match that went down the wire.

They then finished as the runner-ups in four different online leagues, which could have prompted the organization to make a change going into the new 2021 DPC Regional League.

BOOM Esports was also one of the teams in Southeast Asia that received a direct invite to Season 1 of the 2021 DPC Regional League. They will be competing in the upper division against TNC Predator, Fnatic, and T1, along with the four teams that advance into the upper division from the closed qualifier.

Season 1 of the 2021 DPC Regional League in Southeast Asia is set to begin on January 18 and will continue until February 28. At the end of the first SEA Regional League, three teams from the region will advance to the first Major which is scheduled on March 25.
