OG bounced back from a surprising 2-0 loss to Virtus.pro yesterday by soundly sweeping HellRaisers, 2-0, in their group stage matchup at the ESL One Los Angeles EU-CIS online regional league.

Despite being a stand-in for OG, Sébastien “Ceb” Debs reminded us all that he’s a two-time The International champion by pulling off some game-winning plays with his Batrider in game one of the series.

Ceb’s Batrider keyed a strong midgame timing draft for OG to open the series, as he fronted an aggressive lineup that featured Sumail “SumaiL” Hassan on Monkey King, stand-in mid laner Neta “33” Shapira on a core Chen, Martin “Saksa” Sazdov on Nyx Assassin, and Johan “N0tail” Sundstein on Skywrath Mage.

Meanwhile, HR looked to weather the OG midgame storm and take things late with Alexander “Nix” Levin on Phantom Lancer, Arslan “xannii” Shadjanov on Death Prophet, Gleb “Funn1k” Lipatnikov on Timbersaw, Vladimir “RodjER” Nikogosyan on a Position 4 Pangolier, and Yaroslav “Miposhka” Naidenov on a Position 5 Void Spirit.

While OG were aggressive from the get-go as expected, HR didn’t back down and struck back hard by taking down four enemy heroes in a huge clash at the middle lane around the 15-minute mark. However, that did little to stop OG from continuing to run rampant and further increase their momentum.

While OG were clearly in the lead, HR still had a solid win condition in Nix’s Phantom Lancer if they could just somehow stop their opponents from continuing to snowball. That led to both teams posturing around the Roshan pit around the 23-minute mark, as they both knew that the Aegis of the Immortal would swing the game heavily in favor of whoever got it.

Things looked great for HR as the fight started with OG botching their initiation and losing SumaiL. However, Ceb turned the fight around despite being at low health by juking three HR heroes out of their boots, which allowed the rest of OG to secure a teamwipe and the Aegis.

With OG in possession of the Aegis and snowballing out of control, HR looked virtually powerless to stop them from winning one last clash and forcing the GG call after 30 minutes of action. Ceb notched a game-high 10 kills and added 13 assists against just two deaths, while SumaiL added 9 kills of his own, to lead OG to a dominant victory in game one.

OG went on to convincingly defeat HR in a 32-minute game two to secure the series sweep and improve their record to 4-2, which nets them second place in their group behind VP. Meanwhile, HR drop to 2-4 and are in real danger of not making it to the playoffs.

Both teams will continue their group stage campaigns at the ESL One Los Angeles EU-CIS online regional league on April 16, with OG taking on Gambit Esports and HR going up against Cyber Legacy.
