Russia’s ongoing aggression against Ukraine has prompted Dota 2 developers Valve to suspend the upcoming Dota Pro Circuit 2021/2022 Eastern Europe Spring Tour.

This news comes via the tournament’s organizer, EPICENTER. The Spring tours for all regions were initially slated to begin mid-March, with open and closed qualifiers to take place over the coming weeks.

Epicenter updates on DPC 2021/2022 EEU Spring Tour

EPICENTER confirmed that the organization “will be back soon with details” regarding the new dates for qualifiers and the tournament.

“We have been informed by Valve that the DPC Eastern European Spring Tour is postponed indefinitely,” EPICENTER wrote. “We will be back soon with details on the new start dates for open qualifications and the main part of the regional tournament.”

The teams in Eastern Europe have historically sported a heavy mix of Russians and Ukrainians. In the upcoming Spring Tour Division I, more than 50 percent of the 40 players are Russian, while 10 Ukrainians are officially listed on the team’s rosters, according to Liquipedia.

“There are many Ukrainian players, teams, production, talent, and fans whose lives are currently endangered,” Austin “Cap” Walsh, a caster for the first tour of DPC 2021/2022 EEU, wrote. “Hope to see it return soon with all the people I consider friends and colleagues, safe and secure in their rightful homes.”

Russia’s military invasion of Ukraine on February 24 has prompted outcry across the world. CIS-based esports organizations Team Spirit and NAVI released statements on the war in Ukraine.

Ukraine-based tournament organizer, WePlay Esports, terminated partnership agreements with companies from Russia and Belarus, and will not organize a Russian broadcast for the upcoming Gamers Galaxy Dota 2 Invitational in Dubai.
