Evil Geniuses is the first team to qualify into the ONE Esports Singapore Major from the North American region.

After six weeks of intense DPC North America upper division matches, Evil Geniuses, Quincy Crew, and Undying were all tied with the same 6-1 score. This forced all three teams to play a three-way tiebreaker match, with the top two teams advancing to the Major.

Evil Geniuses secured its playoff spot in the upcoming Singapore Major when the team defeated both Quincy Crew and Undying during the first set of tiebreaker best-of-one matches.

EG had an impressive upper division run which included wins over 4 Zoomers, Sadboys, Black and Yellow, Undying, A-Team, and 5ManMidas. These wins earned EG a 6-1 record in the DPC NA upper division.

Last year’s Dota 2 season was difficult for EG, because they were often forced to have a stand-in player fill in for active members on their roster. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Abed “Abed” Yusop and Roman “Ramzes666” Kushnarev were stuck in their respective regions, while EG looked to compete in various online events.

This compelled EG to look into making another adjustment to its roster, and the organization decided to part ways with Ramzes666. EG then decided to make one of the biggest player acquisitions of the previous year, when it signed Dota 2 legend and former Fnatic player Daryl “iceiceice” Koh.

EG has been on a roll ever since the team got together in North America. With the leadership of Tal “Fly” Aizik and Kanishka “BuLba” Sosale, EG has shown they’re playing on a different level compared to the other teams in the region.

Together with EG’s top tier talent, they’re one of the teams the Major fans should keep their eye on. With their core players, Artour “Arteezy” Babaev, Abed “Abed” Yusop, and iceiceice, they’re dangerous everywhere. Additionally, Andreas “Cr1t-” Nielsen is a player who can make impact plays throughout the game. EG will be a difficult challenge for any opponent.

Evil Geniuses joins Team Secret, Virtus.pro, Natus Vincere, Alliance, Team Nigma, Fnatic, Neon Esports, T1, Invictus Gaming, Beastcoast, Thunder Predator, Team Liquid, AS Monaco Gambit, and Quincy Crew as the organizations to qualify into the ONE Esports Singapore Major, which will take place from March 27 to April 4, 2021.
