Former PSG.LGD coach Yao “QQQ” Yi has joined Team Aster for the upcoming StarLadder ImbaTV Kyiv Minor, following a 6-month hiatus.
Aster announced that QQQ will be joining the team and replacing former coach Tong “Mikasa” Junjie, who resigned from his position in January, on their official Weibo account.
QQQ will be looking to help Aster improve on their lackluster results in the season thus far, which includes 9th-12th place finishes in both the MDL Chengdu Major and DreamLeague Season 13: The Leipzig Major.
Due to the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, however, QQQ is unable to join Aster in-person to prepare for the Kyiv Minor. In the announcement post, the team added that Team Sirius coach Zhang “LaNm” Zhicheng would stand-in as a temporary coach.

QQQ was instrumental in PSG.LGD’s rise to become one of the top teams in China in the past couple of years, helping the team win two Major championships and finish in second and third place at The International 2018 (TI8) and The International 2019 (TI9) respectively.
Following the conclusion of TI9, PSG.LGD announced QQQ’s departure from the team after over two years of being their coach.
PSG.LGD has notably struggled since QQQ’s departure, however, as the team has so far failed to come out of the Open Qualifiers of both the Leipzig Major and, most recently, the ESL One Los Angeles Major.
QQQ, at 34 years old, is one of the oldest and most experienced veterans of the Chinese scene. He was a member of EHOME and Team DK as a player before he transitioned to a coaching role in 2015.
