Invictus Gaming has become the first team from the Chinese region to qualify for the ONE Esports Singapore Major.

Invictus Gaming secured its spot after winning its fifth straight match, securing a 5-0 record in the DPC China upper division against PSG.LGD during the fourth week of competition, earning enough wins to make it into the Singapore Major.

Among the team’s most notable accomplishments during this streak were wins over Chinese powerhouse teams Elephant, EHOME, and Vici Gaming. Teams like Team MagMa and LBZS, on the other hand, are no longer able to catch up with iG, since they’ve accumulated too many losses.

While PSG.LGD and EHOME still have a slim chance of qualifying, the current frontrunners in the region are Team Aster (4-0) and Vici Gaming (3-1).

Invictus Gaming didn’t have a particularly impressive showing in 2020. Its top highlights last year were four runner-up finishes in China’s online regional leagues during the DPC hiatus.

iG likewise finished in second place in CDA League Season 1, China Dota 2 Professional League Season 2, ESL One Birmingham 2020: China, and DPL-CDA Professional League Season 2.

Invictus Gaming’s strength as a roster comes from the team’s time together. In fact, iG is one of the few squads on the competitive Dota 2 circuit that didn’t go through a roster change in 2020. Their last move happened in 2019, when they acquired position 4 support player Hu “Kaka” Liangzhi and hard carry player Jin “flyfly” Zhiyi after TI9.

Behind the leadership of veteran coach, Su “super” Peng, iG puts together the individual strengths of Kaka, flyfly, Zhou “Emo” Yi, and Malaysian players Thiay “JT-” Jun Wen and Chan “Oli” Chon Kien. Together, the team has had an unbelievable run in the upper division. iG has pulled off multiple comeback victories throughout the competition, which shows how resilient and talented the team has become.

Invictus Gaming joins Team Secret, Virtus.pro, Natus Vincere, Alliance, Team Nigma, Fnatic, Neon Esports, and T1 as the organizations that have officially qualified for the ONE Esports Singapore Major, which will take place from March 27 to April 4, 2021.
