In the first China vs CIS matchup of the first round of Lower Bracket eliminations, CIS Team Spirit becomes the first team to be eliminated from the MDL Chengdu Major after being dominated by Chinese team EHOME.
Spirit went for a very greedy lineup with Faceless Void for ILTW, Tiny for asd, and Timbersaw for asd. Meanwhile, EHOME went for a more stable composition with Cheng “vtFαded” Jia Hao on Gyrocopter, Tang “897” Zhirui on Razor, and Zhang “Faith_bian” Ruida on Abaddon.
EHOME handily won the laning stage off the back of Faith_bian’s Abaddon shutting down ILTW’s Faceless Void in the top lane. Spirit went on the offensive come midgame and were able to win multiple engagements, but EHOME was able to weather their advance and keep their cores leading in farm across the board.

EHOME were able to find multiple pickoffs that gave back the momentum to them however, including one on Ghostik’s Timbersaw that let them grab the Aegis freely. With their cores peaking in strength, EHOME went on the offensive and broke through a Spirit lineup that seemed to be in disarray. The beleaguered CIS squad eventually called GG after 32 minutes.
Team Spirit bows out of the Chengdu Major at 13th-16th place with US$12,500 and 100 Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) points in consolation. Meanwhile, EHOME will be facing Team Liquid in the next round of the Lower Bracket.
